Vintage Book Piece Dressel & Kister German Pierrette Half Doll Head & Legs

Pierette was the feminine counterpart of the classic Italian Comedy character Pierrot. This motif was often used in the decorative arts around the the turn of the century. In the Dressel & Kister version, the nicely modeled hands are clasped with fingers entwined and close to the right shoulder. The head alone can be seen in The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Half-Dolls by Marion & Werner on page 48. Art Deco half doll with hands clasped away from body. Beautifully hand painted face. Brown hair black skull cap and grey eyes shadow. White legs are slightly crossed with gold shoes. The shoes have very minor loss of paint. Her dress is very old lace and it is in very good condition with no tears. I can't find any marks on the head and do not want to destroy her clothes to find them. Legs are marked Germany and 7983. Circa 1920. In excellent condition, no crack, chips or repairs. 5 ½” tall.
