Book Piece Victorian Sterling Locket & Chain

Exceptional hand chased sterling silver chain and locket! Each link is engraved with floral and foliate patterns. The front of the locket is very detailed, engraved with flowers, birds, geometrics, starbursts and sunrays. The relief is gold in colour. I found a similar chain and locket in C. Jeananne Bell’s book Answers to Questions About Old Jewelry on page 109. In excellent condition. The back is plain and the hallmarks can be seen, however they have been worn down with time. The bail has a lion stamped on it. Circa 1860-1880. 17 ½” long by ½” at it’s widest. Locket is 2 ½” by 1 ½” and is ½”wide.
