Light Turquoise Bullicante Cigarette Holder w/ Gold Aventurine by Alfredo Barbini

$28 USD Offers ConsideredLight Turquoise Bullicante Cigarette Holder w/ Gold Aventurine by Alfredo Barbini

Glass:Mid-20th C. Murano Art Glass
This light turquoise bullicante cigarette holder was once part of a set that included an ashtray and a light. The beautiful symmetry of the controlled bubbles and the way the color and gold aventurine seem to gather around their edges marks it as the work of Alfredo Barbini, one of the foremost Murano glass artists in the mid-20th century. The holder is made of several layers. The interior layer is milk glass and the whole is covered by clear glass. It stands 3" high, and the rim is 2" in ...
Vintage Amber Controlled Bubble Gourd Vase

$45 USDVintage Amber Controlled Bubble Gourd Vase

Glass:Mid-20th C. Murano Art Glass
The glass of this amber controlled bubble vase is very thick, and the bubbles gradually elongated as the liquid glass was stretched to make the 3 points of the rim. Its beauty is enhanced by the thick ribs that give it a gourdlike shape; in Italian Glass, Century 20, Leslie Pina attributes similar vases to Alfredo Barbini (p. 28). Other than wear on the base, which was ground and polished, it's in mint condition. It stands almost 8" high, and the rim is 3" in diameter. The circumference at the ...
Large Barbini White Bullicante Serving Bowl w/ Copper Aventurine

$48 USD Offers ConsideredLarge Barbini White Bullicante Serving Bowl w/ Copper Aventurine

Glass:Mid-20th C. Murano Art Glass
This white bullicante serving bowl by Alfredo Barbini is beautiful, with a generous sprinkling of copper aventurine surrounding and emphasizing the symmetry and sweep of the controlled bubbles. The rim, 9" in diameter, has sharply crimped ruffles, and the bowl is 3.5" high. There are several layers of glass, the bubbles and aventurine in the interior and milk glass on the exterior (or underside), all cased in clear glass. There is visible wear on the polished base, and almost imperceptible ...
Barbini Small Turquoise Bullicante Ashtray w/ Original Pestle

$48 USD Offers ConsideredBarbini Small Turquoise Bullicante Ashtray w/ Original Pestle

Glass:Mid-20th C. Murano Art Glass
This is one of Barbini's bullicante ashtrays in turquoise with a folded rim. It's 5" long, 4" wide, and 2" high. The controlled bubbles are highlighted with gold aventurine, starting as little more than pin points in the bottom and gradually increasing in size toward the rim. The pestle is 3.5" long and is filled with silver aventurine (photos 4, 5, and 6). One end of the pestle was ground and polished, but not very well. There are some tool marks and roughness around the edge. The base of the ...
Riekes-Crisa Amethyst Pitcher, Murano Label

$48 USD Offers ConsideredRiekes-Crisa Amethyst Pitcher, Murano Label

Glass:Mid-20th C. Murano Art Glass
This elegant amethyst pitcher by the glass company, Riekes-Crisa, circa 1975, is perfect for serving margaritas. Apparently Riekes-Crisa was a Murano glass company. At least, there seems to be some connection: on p. 198 of Italian Glass, Leslie Pina shows a seal designed by Licio Zanetti [1960s] that bears the Riekes-Crisa export label, and identifies it as a Murano company. The pitcher is a bit taller than 11" and about 12" in circumference. The top of the glass was folded and pulled to make ...
Large Barbini Blue Bullicante Folded Bowl w/Gold Aventurine, Mint

$145 USD Offers ConsideredLarge Barbini Blue Bullicante Folded Bowl w/Gold Aventurine, Mint

Glass:Mid-20th C. Murano Art Glass:Alfredo Barbini
This is one of Alfredo Barbini's bullicante folded bowls, large size, in robin's egg blue lavishly covered with gold aventurine in one layer. It is cased glass and so extremely heavy. The interior has a layer of light-blue glass, another layer of the spiraling controlled bubbles that make Barbini's art glass so visually spectacular, covered with a layer of gold aventurine grains. The exterior has a layer of a darker, but still pastel, blue. The bowl was then covered with an outer layer of clear ...
