Clear Crystal Footed Hand-blown Decanter

$32 USD Offers ConsideredClear Crystal Footed Hand-blown Decanter

Glass:By Function:Decanter/Pitcher
I purchased this hand-blown clear glass decanter, or pitcher, at a local estate sale because it's so unusual. Although it looks more like a pitcher with its high handle and pulled lip, what looks like some light sanding on the interior, near the rim, suggests that it may once have had a stopper. It stands 11" high, to the top of the hollow attached handle (photo 4), and the round body is 18" in circumference. In Fact, the end of the handle is attached to a round opening in the body of the ...
Imperial Glass Red Slag Toothpick Holder, c. 1951--1972

$75 USD Offers ConsideredImperial Glass Red Slag Toothpick Holder, c. 1951--1972

Glass:By Function:Toothpick Holder
The colors in this red slag glass toothpick holder are a virtual rainbow including several shades of red and orange. In some places the opaque white shows as an icy blue, and the orange looks yellow. This toothpick holder is Imperial Glass's "Three in One" pattern (photo 3), made between 1951 and 1972. It's 2.5" high and in mint condition.
Heavy Crystal Scandinavian Engraved Vase, Vintage

$65 USD Offers ConsideredHeavy Crystal Scandinavian Engraved Vase, Vintage

Glass:Scandinavian 20th-century Art Glass
This is one of those heavy crystal vases made by Scandinavian glass factories. This one was probably made by Orrefors or Kosta. Unfortunately, although Scandinavian companies are fairly consistent when it comes to etching the name of the company and the designer on the bottom of their products, wear on the outer perimeter of the base obscures any identifying marks that might be there. A large bird perched on a branch covers one side of the vase (photos 3 & 4); the other is unadorned. The vase is ...
Light Turquoise Hand-blown Seed Glass Fruit: Pumpkin

$6 USD Offers ConsideredLight Turquoise Hand-blown Seed Glass Fruit: Pumpkin

Glass:Mid 20th-c. Art Glass:Fruit
This light turquoise hand-blown seed glass pumpkin is in mint condition with virtually no wear visible on the base (photo 4). It's 3" high and 3" in diameter. It might be a tomato, but the ribbing makes it look more like a pumpkin.
Hand-blown Teal & Electric Blue Sommerso Cylindrical Vase, Mint

$78 USD Offers ConsideredHand-blown Teal & Electric Blue Sommerso Cylindrical Vase, Mint

Glass:By Function:Vase
This beauty is art glass at its finest, seeming at times to still be in its liquid form (photo 7). Near the top of this teal and electric blue cylindrical vase, the artist used a tool to work the teal out from the column so that it forms a wider mouth of 3-3/8" diameter. The glass at the bottom of the vase is an electric blue that gradually recedes, becoming a rich teal (photos 5 & 7). The vase is 9-1/4" high, and the base is 2-3/4" in diameter. The pontil is rough (photo 9), but the base is ...
Murano Oversized Cased-glass Peach Goblet, Vintage Label

$75 USD Offers ConsideredMurano Oversized Cased-glass Peach Goblet, Vintage Label

Glass:Mid-20th-c. Murano Art Glass
I'm a little uncertain about how to describe the color of this oversized, cased-glass goblet. The outer layer of the goblet itself is certainly peachy, maybe even close to salmon, while the stem and foot are definitely salmon (photo 4). The goblet is a hair short of 10" in height, and the diameter is 4-1/4". A red-and-white rectangular paper label is still attached to the body of the goblet; there were probably numbers at the top of the label, but they are no longer visible. Only "Hand Blown in ...
Seed Glass Light Turquoise Fruit: Peach

$6 USD Offers ConsideredSeed Glass Light Turquoise Fruit: Peach

Glass:Mid 20th-c. Art Glass:Fruit:Peach
This is the first of two light turquoise hand-blown seed glass peaches that I'm listing, and it's in mint condition: no chips, cracks, or other damage. It's 4.5" long and 9" in circumference at its widest point. I'm identifying it as a peach because of the dimple near the stem.
Seed Glass Light Turquoise Fruit: Peach

$6 USD Offers ConsideredSeed Glass Light Turquoise Fruit: Peach

Glass:Mid 20th-c. Art Glass:Fruit:Peach
This is the second of two light turquoise hand-blown seed glass peaches that I'm listing, and it's in mint condition: no chips, cracks, or other damage. It's 4.5" long and 9" in circumference at its widest point. I'm identifying it as a peach because of the dimple near the stem.
Small Hand-blown Green Pinched Bowl, Vintage

$15 USD Offers ConsideredSmall Hand-blown Green Pinched Bowl, Vintage

Glass:Mid-20th-c. N. American Glass
The wear visible around the bottom of this small green bowl (photos 6 & 7) indicates it was probably produced during the mid-20th century, quite probably by one of the well-known, or not-so-well-known N. American art glass companies. Small "pinches" were made in two alternating levels around the exterior of the bowl (photos 2 & 3). It's 2: high and 4-3/4" in diameter. The pontil was rough but has been ground and polished (photos 5 & 6). Aside from the wear on the bottom, there's no damage.
Viking Glass Small Brown Epic Leaf Vase, #7601

$34 USD Offers ConsideredViking Glass Small Brown Epic Leaf Vase, #7601

Glass:By Maker:Viking, 1970s:Epic Leaf Vase
Viking Glass introduced its Epic Leaf vases in its 1976-1977 catalog in three sizes. This brown bud vase is the smallest at 13" in height, catalog #7601, and apparently wasn't produced in plain colors after 1979. This one needs to be cleaned, but it's in mint condition--no chips, flakes, cracks, or fleabites. (White spots in photos are glare.) Also available is a large cabbage-leaf bowl (item #1357).
Viking Cabbage Leaf Centerpiece Bowl, #7623, Label

$45 USD Offers ConsideredViking Cabbage Leaf Centerpiece Bowl, #7623, Label

Glass:By Maker:Viking Cabbage Leaf Design
This large ruffled Viking bowl is the color of smoky quartz, and serve well as a salad or fruit bowl. The three large, overlapped cabbage leaves on the underside have thick central branching veins. This is Viking's cabbage leaf design, described in one of their catalogues as a "CR. Bowl," #7623. The pedestal has wavelike swirls separated by six thick veins. The bowl is 10.5" in diameter and 5.75" high. The clear Viking label is still attached inside the bowl, and it's in mint condition. I also ...
Amber, Clear, and Green Bird Bowl

$48 USD Offers ConsideredAmber, Clear, and Green Bird Bowl

Glass:Mid 20th-c. Art Glass
This nut or candy bowl is made to look like a crested bird with its wings spread. The colors in the bowl alternate between clear and amber glass, with emerald green trim to emphasize the edges of the wings and tail. The eyes, crest, and beak are attached cobalt glass, and the crest and beak are a single piece of glass. The beak has a nice sharp point (photo 5). The neck was twisted so that the bird's head reaches back toward the wings (photo 6). The bowl is 5" high (to the highest point of the ...
Bischoff Amber Cruet, #601

$18 USD Offers ConsideredBischoff Amber Cruet, #601

Glass:Mid 20th C. No. American Art Glass:Bischoff
The graceful curves of this amber cruet and the depth of color visible in the base and handle make it a fine example of the glass artistry of the Bischoff glass makers. The ruffled rim has three crimps that give a triangular shape (photos 4 & 8), perfect for pouring liquids. It no longer has the clear stopper, but this doesn't detract from its beauty. It stands 5" high, and the pitcher is in perfect condition--no chips, flakes, or cracks. The pontil is rough and the base shows almost no wear ...
Blenko Tangerine Crackle-glass Vase, C60A

$39 USD Offers ConsideredBlenko Tangerine Crackle-glass Vase, C60A

Glass:20th-century Blenko:1962
This tangerine (amberina) crackle-glass vase, catalog #C60A, was probably designed by Wayne Husted during his tenure as Blenko's designer, in 1962, a year before he moved on in his career. It's a little over 4-3/4" high and has two attached red leaves (photo 2). The pontil is rough (photo 6), and it's in mint condition.
Scandinavian Ice Vase

$24 USD Offers ConsideredScandinavian Ice Vase

Glass:20th-century Scandinavian
Scandinavian glass factories are known for this style of glass, which was mold-blown to create the effect of ice or, sometimes, tree bark. The effects created by the play of light over the rough surface are beautiful. The vase is 6" high and 5" wide, with a highly ground and polished rim 2" x 1.5". The only damage is some roughness on the inside of the rim on one side (photo 5), probably a production flaw hidden by the reflections created by the exterior texture; there is also slight wear on the ...
Small Teal Cloverleaf Ashtray, Murano

$22 USD Offers ConsideredSmall Teal Cloverleaf Ashtray, Murano

Glass:Mid-20th-c. Murano Art Glass
This small teal Murano ashtray comes from a local estate where most of the art glass was made by well-known U.S. companies (Kanawha, Pilgrim, Westmoreland, Bischoff, and Rainbow), This ashtray was one of the few piece of Murano art glass. It's 4" wide and 2" high. Aside from wear on the polished base, of the sort one expects on mid-20th century glass, It's in mint condition.
Pair Emerald Floriform Ashtrays w/ Silver Aventurine, Both with Original Murano Labels

$48 USD Offers ConsideredPair Emerald Floriform Ashtrays w/ Silver Aventurine, Both with Original Murano Labels

Glass:Murano Art Glass, 1950s-1960s
Both of these emerald-green Murano ashtrays contain several layers of glass including an external layer of clear. The interior layer is a deep emerald green. Beneath that is a sparkling layer of silver aventurine. Each ashtray is shaped like a four-petaled flower or a four-leaf clover, with the rim deeply crimped in four places. They measure 4.5" square, and still have their rectangular red and gold foil labels identifying them as Vetro Artistico Veneziano, Venetian Art Glass, made in Murano, ...
Swedish Controlled Bubble Blue Dolphin, w/ Label

$48 USD Offers ConsideredSwedish Controlled Bubble Blue Dolphin, w/ Label

Glass:Mid-20th-c. Swedish Art Glass
This long, royal blue stylized dolphin with controlled bubbles was made in Granna, Sweden, probably in the 1970s. Its brown and gold paper label is intact and still attached to the polished base, although the part of it with "AB Granna (?) Glasshytte" is virtually impossible to read. The dolphin is a foot long (12") and 5" high at the extended tip of the tail. What is amazing is that this long, heavy figure balances on a base that's just 1.5" long and 1" wide. The dolphin has some tiny rough ...
Sea-Green Scalloped Centerpiece Bowl, 1950s-1960s

$35 USD Offers ConsideredSea-Green Scalloped Centerpiece Bowl, 1950s-1960s

Glass
This scalloped centerpiece bowl is Blenko's sea green, and I think it's a variation of Husted's 1954 large salad bowl, #6143-L. Like that bowl, the interior surface is highly polished while the underside has a slightly corroso texture, and it was made in a mold. It also has eight large scallops around the rim, but, because it's flattened and the sides aren't as steep, the ribs are less pronounced and the glass isn't as thick. On the exterior surface, there are also ripples spreading up from the ...
Square Charcoal Scandinavian Decanter w/ Original Stopper, 1950s-1960s

$36 USD Offers ConsideredSquare Charcoal Scandinavian Decanter w/ Original Stopper, 1950s-1960s

Glass:20th-century Scandinavian
This hand-blown charcoal decanter, made (I think) by a Swedish or Danish furnace, is square and comes with its original bubble stopper. Aside from slight wear on the bottom of the decanter, both are in excellent condition--no chips, flakes, or cracks. With the stopper in, the decanter is 13.5" tall, and has slightly depressed sides. Slightly off-center on the base is a smoothly polished concave circle where the pontil was.
Viking Epic Footed Charcoal Swung Vase, c. 1962, w/ Label

$19 USD Offers ConsideredViking Epic Footed Charcoal Swung Vase, c. 1962, w/ Label

Glass:1960s Art Glass
This swung vase is one of 17 vases introduced in Viking's Epic line in the 1960s, which has no singular design motif to unify pieces in the line itself. It's 12.5" high, catalog #1435, in the company's Charcoal color, one of the more difficult colors to find. It still has its clear plastic label and is in mint condition. (Note" Viking labels cannot be used to date specific items, according to Dean Six. The glass-blowers just grabbed whatever roll of labels happened to be handy.)
Cristallo Footed Compote/Comport w/ Single Teardrop Bubble

$26 USD Offers ConsideredCristallo Footed Compote/Comport w/ Single Teardrop Bubble

Glass:Hand-blown Art Glass
If the delicate lightweight glass made by Murano furnaces in the late 19th and early 20th centuries appeals to you, this footed compote/comport will delight you. Called "cristallo," the glass is so light and delicate that the piece feels virtually weightless. Although the glass is clear, in some lights it has a slight honey-colored tinge. Amazingly, there is no damage to this compote--no flakes, chips, or cracks.
Emerald Flask Vase w/ Crimped Rim

$13 USD Offers ConsideredEmerald Flask Vase w/ Crimped Rim

Glass:1950s-1960s
Bischoff Glass in W. Virginia made a series of vases with the catalog number 829, and this vase may be 829-3 in emerald green. The body of the vase rises at a sharp angle from the flat base to a long neck, and it's 8.5" high. The base has a circumference of 16" and the rim is 4" across. Aside from some wear on the edge of the base, the vase is in mint condition.
EAPG Crystal Basket w/ Opalescent Handle and Trim, 1902

$105 USD Offers ConsideredEAPG Crystal Basket w/ Opalescent Handle and Trim, 1902

Glass:Antique
From the lines, it appears that this EAPG basket was made in a four-part mold. The textured exterior has rippled lines accentuated by small hobnails. The attached opalescent handle was made by hand and twisted into a loop while still malleable. The rim is trimmed with small opalescent scallops. The basket is 6.5" high and 5" in diameter. In raised letter on the base is the patent date, March 18, 1902. It's in mint condition, at 100 years old!
Folded Crystal Clamshell Bowl, Sand-blasted Maker's Logo

$75 USD Offers ConsideredFolded Crystal Clamshell Bowl, Sand-blasted Maker's Logo

Glass:Mid-20th C. Art Glass
This elegant crystal folded clamshell bowl is at least equal to the artistry of art glass made on Murano or a Scandinavian company. It's a very heavy piece of glass, and measures 8.5" in length, 7" in width, and 3.5" in height. In form, it began as a bowl with a thick, out-turned rim. Then one side was pulled up and folded in and crimped in five places to produce the scalloped design. At both ends the rim was pulled down and sharply crimped to make the "ram's horns" that touch the outer surface. ...
Green and Blue Art Glass "Kisses" by Carol Scherer

$7 USD Offers ConsideredGreen and Blue Art Glass "Kisses" by Carol Scherer

Glass:Mid-20th-c. Art Glass
I found these two art glass "kisses" at the estate sale of the artists who collected primarily U.S. art glass. They were made by Carol Scherer, a U.S. glass maker who also makes special kisses for holidays such as St. Patrick's Day, and white ones with the breast cancer pink ribbon. One is beautiful deep blue, the other is emerald green, and both are in mint condition, right up to their little curls. The green one is 1.5" high; the blue one is 1-1/8" high. Both have white paper on the bottom ...
Amethyst and White Space-Age Freeform Bowl

$48 USDAmethyst and White Space-Age Freeform Bowl

Glass:Eames Era
This is a stretched freeform bowl with amethyst and white swirls in clear glass, very 1950s in its style with its flowing grace. It's 13" long, 6" wide, and 5" high (to the tip of the knob). The interior bottom of the bowl is a smooth, raised dome. There are two production flaws: one a stretched air bubble, the other a line wholly inside the glass (photo 2; it is not a crack, although it looks like one). There are also four light scuff marks--three on the underside of the bowl, where they don't ...
Heavy Freeform Crystal Mold-blown Ashtray

$45 USDHeavy Freeform Crystal Mold-blown Ashtray

Glass:1960s Art Glass
This is a large, heavy mold-blown crystal ashtray, most likely a Blenko mid-20th-century product designed by Winslow Anderson in 1952. Like other ashtrays and bowls of this style, it has a highly polished interior, and the outer surface has a rough texture (photos 4 and 5). It's 8" long, 5.5" wide, and 2" high. On the interior is a long bump on one side that might keep a cigarette from sliding (photo 3). The ashtray is in mint condition.
Large Bulbous Emerald-Green Optic Vase w/ Crimped Rim

$45 USDLarge Bulbous Emerald-Green Optic Vase w/ Crimped Rim

Glass:N. American Art Glass
This emerald-green bulbous vase has a rim that was crimped to produce a quatrefoil, or four-leaf clover, shape. The crimps are pointed and quite distinct (photo 2). The vase is round and was slightly flattened to produce its bulbous shape, which is 24" around. The vase is 6.5" high, and the rim is 4.5" wide across the "leaves." It has two production flaws, a small interior bump and what looks to be a loose cane (photo 4), about 2" long, that somehow became mixed with the grab used to make the ...
Small Handled Cornucopia w/ White & Topaz Swirls, Retro

$16 USDSmall Handled Cornucopia w/ White & Topaz Swirls, Retro

Glass:Mid-20th-c. N. American Glass
This is an unusually small, almost dainty, cornucopia dish, with swirls of white and topaz in a very light aquamarine glass. The points of the corny are results of stretching the bowl, and the marks of the glassmaker's tool are evident at the tips. It has an unusual handle bent and pulled back toward the bowl, then looped twice to make a coil. The corny is 6.5" long, 4.5" wide, and 2-3/4" high (to the top of the first coil), and it's in mint condition. There are a couple of air bubbles, produced ...
