Specializing in highly collectible Sterling Charms & Jewelry.
I love these pomander type charms - I like to put one on every charm bracelet, charge it with fresh cotton & the scent of my choice and be able to "sniff" my wrists periodically throughout the day.
This beautiful, highly embellished ewer is one that is rarely seen. Like most, it opens at the middle and looks to have the original wool cotton which is still fragrant. Easily changed out by the new owner.
In pristine condition, straight from the UK it bears a glowing patina.
c. 1960-1970, it has indeed tested Sterling although unmarked as such which is very much the norm for English charms of this period.
Measures a large 5/8 by almost 1 inch.
Most Vintage charm collectors like the patina to be undisturbed, this adds potentially higher value to some charms. Patina is not the same as tarnish... Patina is the soft glow caused by bits of tarnish settling into the natural minute scratches in Sterling Silver that occur overtime. A gentle sweep with a silver cloth will remove unattractive superfluous tarnish yet leave the depth and dimension of the low areas - nooks & crannies - scratches - or what have you. Using a dip or scouring a charm will remove all of the good deposits of tarnish. Again, your choice by all means but a gentle hand is usually a safer bet when cleaning Vintage Sterling.
Rest assured, all charms at Evetta Hill are guaranteed Vintage and have not been altered in any manner! I do not sell reproduction charms ever - even if they were reproduced from an original Vintage mold. Charms like that are NEW even though they were designed using an old component.
Please note that my photos are highly enlarged and therefore magnify every nuance many of which are not visible to the naked eye.
