Circa 1930’s-40’s, this unusual Vintage Celluloid Brooch measures 1 ½ inches in width and is 1 inch tall, at the tallest portion, which is the chicken! The background coloration of the egg is an ivory celluloid, with delicate painted flowers where the egg is “cracked” for the chicken. The colors of the flowers are pink, blue and white, with wonderful realistic molded detailing. Emerging from the celluloid egg, is a bright yellow chicken, with realistic molded detailing. Celluloid was invented in 1869 and was very popular from that period and even through portions of the Art Deco era.
This charming vintage Celluloid brooch of a chicken in an egg is in mint condition and is free of any damage whatsoever. This Celluloid brooch will look so cute worn alone or with other vintage celluloid figural brooches.
