Circa 1930’s-40’s, this Bakelite flatware set, as stated, is service for four. There are four knives and four forks. Each knife, including the Bakelite handle, measures 8 ¾ of an inch long. The Bakelite handle measures 3 ½ inches long. Each fork, inclusive of the Bakelite handle, measures 7 ½ inches long with the Bakelite handle being 3 ½ inches long. The coloration of the Bakelite portion is a fabulous and unusual rich milk chocolate brown with swirls and swirls of lighter and darker tones throughout. The depth of each Bakelite handle is quite deep with a depth of almost ½ of an inch! The handles are classically Art Deco in design, with the top portion measuring ½ of an inch wide and widening towards the bottom to ¾ of an inch, adding to the sleek and symmetric appearance. The bottom of each Bakelite utensil is slightly rounded on the bottom. BE SURE TO SEE ALL THE PHOTOS.

The back of each knife is marked EICHENLAUB SOLINGEN ROSTFREI, which literally means “rust free,” and indeed they are completely rust free! Each fork is additionally marked, ROSTFREI as well.

Vintage Bakelite kitchenware flatware sets, desert sets and fruit knife sets, etc. marked ROSTFREI, were manufactured in Germany in the 1930’s and 1940’s and are sought after by collectors today of Vintage Bakelite kitchenware and flatware.

This outstanding example of vintage Bakelite ROSTFREI kitchenware set is in pristine condition and appears to have never been used. The Bakelite handles have a bright and shiny patina and test positive for Bakelite.
