Circa 1930’s-40’s, the design of this fabulous Bakelite flatware desert set closely resembles the typical design of Rostfrei Bakelite sets of the same era. There are four two-toned desert forks, half Bakelite and half Lucite. Each fork measures 6 inches in length. The Bakelite portion is a luscious deep cherry red Bakelite with an amber translucent color Lucite for the other portion, which closely resembles the look of apple juice Bakelite. BE SURE TO SEE ALL THE PHOTOS. The utensil portion of the forks have an unusual shape to them with three tines which is typical of desert forks. Each fork is embossed on the front CHROM. There is a gorgeous pastry or pie server, measuring 8 ¼ inches in length with an etched design on either side of the serving portion. The handle is identical to the vintage desert forks, one half being the wonderful deep cherry red Bakelite and other half, the amber colored Lucite. This set is quite similar to the coveted and collected Vintage Bakelite flatware sets with the same two-toned motif and will blend beautifully. This fabulous Vintage Bakelite and Lucite flatware desert set is ideal for serving small pastries, pies or even appetizers.
The sleek and symmetric design of the Bakelite and Lucite handles are so very Art Deco in appearance, with the bottoms designed slightly on the diagonal.
The forks and the pastry server of this vintage set are in absolutely perfect condition and appear to have never been used. The Bakelite proton of the handles on each flatware piece is absolutely perfect and tests positive for Bakelite. The CHROM utensil portions are bright and shiny. Be sure to see all the Photos with this vintage set.
