A stunning Vintage Bakelite bangle is presented, a hinged clamper. This gorgeous Bakelite hinged clamper bangle truly has it all!

Circa 1930’s-40’s, this Bakelite hinged clamper bangle is quite unusual. The width of the Bakelite bangle varies from front to back, with the front being the widest portion, measuring 1 ¼ inches wide, tapering to the back, where it measures 1 inch wide, nearest the hinge. It is quite wide and chunky, again with varying dimensions, with the front being quite deep, having a depth of ½ inch! Again, the back tapers, to a depth of ¼ of an inch. The shape, as is common with hinged Bakelite bangles, is slightly oval. Closed, the inside diameter is the standard and comfortable 2 ½ inches. Because it is a hinged clamper, open there is a diameter of 3 inches, for extra ease taking it on and off. The hinge, as stated, is in the back and is tight and secure and original. It has a very substantial weight, with deep and chunky carvings. The carvings are classic Art Deco in motif, being carved all the way around the entire Bakelite bangle. The carvings are a series of very deeply carved vertical carvings (see photos), quite domed, and indented between each carved area. This Bakelite truly must be seen to be appreciated. The color is a warm cream corn colored Bakelite, enabling the wonderful chunky and deep carvings to stand out even more. The stylized and symmetrical carvings give this Bakelite hinged bangle a definite Art Deco look. BE SURE TO SEE ALL PHOTOS.

The patina is bright and shiny on this vintage Bakelite bangle and it tests positive for Bakelite. As stated above, the hinge is tight and secure and snaps closed beautifully. The opening is in the front and aligns perfectly with no space. It is in perfect condition, free of any damage whatsoever and is ready to be worn and enjoyed. It will look elegant worn alone or with other Bakelite bangles.
