Visit us at the Red Deer, Alberta Christmas Antique Show At The Westerner Nov 21 & 22
Constructed in three articulating segments, which swing, one from the other, top to bottom. The uppermost segment has a fleur-de-lys crown with tapered “ribbons” flaring down and out. The center section is a tapered flat loop of open profile with taille d’epergne decoration. These black enameled details are delicate symmetrical botanical silhouettes on a hand engraved ground. The loops have a pin hinge at the top from which they swing from front to back. Suspended on tiny rings at the bottom of each earring is a faceted 1/16” ball.
The condition is excellent. Note: the earrings were converted from chandelier to post and butterfly in the past (probably around the turn of the 19th C to 20th C); as a result there is a bit of silver solder showing on the top & back side only. This does not show from the front when being worn.
This is a very wearable pair of antique earrings, just the right size with very attractive movement. They are quite three dimensional and show up well.
