The artist is the Son of the painter Elie Anatole PAVIL, Julien PAVIL was an illustrator, a draftsman humorist and a poster artist. He illustrated several books between 1929 and 1945. He worked for many illustrated newspapers: “the Baionnette”, “Cinémonde”, “Fantasio”, “Rustle”, “Paris Midday”, “Paris Evening”,…He was also, at the time, the secretary of the free commune of Montmartre. DRAWINGS: Gas mask and rumors. Original drawing doubles executed in ink. Signed in bottom on the right. Appeared in 1939 in Paris-Midday. Format 25 X 32,3 cm. 12 1/2 inches wide by 10 inches tall A wonderful piece of history!
