Beautiful French Spelter and Crystal Compote from the late 1800's. Spelter was used in place of bronze in decorative pieces as well as sculptures. The sculpted floral and scroll stand accent the floral, diamond and ribbon design in the crystal bowl. The spelter is gilted in a silver finish. The bottom is marked Dépose, or the export mark used in France during this period, Veus and the number 213. It is 6 inches tall and 9 inches in diameter with only age related wear to the silver color finish. A great centerpiece for the holidays.
