A Gorgeous early majolica offering from Sarreguemines. Strawberries in bloom with berries and a vine border encircle this platter. This piece has wonderful finesse, color and detail which is so important to a fine majolica piece. Sarreguemines begin production of majolica in the1870's keeping with the quality of fine English manufacturers of the time, such as Minton. Sarreguemines produced wonderful pieces of fine majolica. The colors are intense and the glaze brilliant. This platter is 12 1/4 inches long, 10 1/4 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches deep. This has no restorations chips or cracks and only minimal age relate crazing. The mark is an impressed Sarreguemines with the word majolica, and dates to 1877.
