This is a bronze sculpture of a woman in the nude with a short coiffure, breasts exposed and wearing a draped camisole. The entire piece is exquisite in detail which rests on a stable marble base.There is some dust throughout, but no oxidation or severe . Sculpture is marked with a foundry stamp, most likely French,on the underside with a lion en rampant brandishing a knife. The sculpture is in excellent condition. The sculpture captures the beauty, sensuality and vitality of a young woman possibly in the guise of a Biblical figure like Salome or Esther and even from the Greco-Roman period of mythological beings like Venus or Diana the huntress. These types of imagery were often encoded in the lucid figures in inanimate The entire sculpture was design as a strut or a support base which was intended to hold up another piece. The holes denoted in the piece suggest that it may have had some wires through it. Pieces from the art deco period were often full bronze and composed in the cire perdu or lost wax technique process The detail is glorious. The piece is 16 inches tall and the arm span is 11 inches. The weight is 12 lbs.
