Purchased in 1993, the estimated age was 70+ years. The appraisal states (in part): Helmet mask with raffia surrounding base. White face with pierced slit eyes. Nostril holes also pierced. Geometric carvings at base below two carved horizontal lines which circle the base of the mask…..Appraised October 17th, 1997 at $1,800. Origin: Congo, Ethnic group: Pende.
