This is a nice solid heavy antique ornate frame - its size and decor certainly make a statement. It is made of a gesso composition with lots of intricate details. Size of this beauty is 27" X 33" X 3 3/4", view size is 19 1/2" X 25 1/2" and back opening is 26 1/4" X 20". This frame has been painted a gold color with some scuffs and little paint missing here and there. There is a 1" piece of gesso missing on one edge (one can see the netting in this section that was used to create some of the design) and craquelure throughout. We consider this frame to be in great shape considering the age and size. The print (a magpie) has a double matte and has a couple of tears (2:00 & 8:00) where it appears to have been taped for it has discolored. The prints title is Pica Leucoptera, Gould J. Gould & H.C. Ritcher, del et lith Walter & Cohn Imp. and has wonderful details and colors. Print measures 13" X 19". Very impressive frame and print for that empty wall.
