A Beautifully executed Oil Painting on Stretch Canvas of a Mediterranian Bay Scene from an elevated vantage point. Our research leads us to believe that this work was a creation completed by an unknown student of Jurgan Frederick Huge (1809-1878) or possibly by his Daughter, Sarah Elizabeth L. Huge. Often times a Teacher of Painting will rough out the composition leaving the details to be completed by a student. This work falls into such a catagory and we suggest viewing of an article by Jean Lipman published in 1973. There is a follow up article in the publication Antiques Magazine September 1987 edition. There are 19th century masted Tall Ships in the Bay, Mountains in the distance, and People walking about in the forground. The Artwork does not appear to be signed that we can see, but written in lead on the stretcher back is Dworkin. We believe the frame is period to the work. There is a slight overall darkening to the painting which could be brightened up nicely by the cleaning of a restorer/conservator of art. There are two small fractures to the paint at the right side stretcher but for the most part the paint is stable. There is a very old repair patch on the reverse side. Craqelure exists throughout this work and in a few small areas at the bottom center it appears that something may have spilled or dripped onto the canvas, sort of like paint spots in a lite color but it could just be dirt that will clean off. This Artwork measures 17.50 by 25.50 inches sight, 23.50 by 31.50 framed
