Vintage Elgin American satin finish gold tone compact with a raised engraved shell in a polished gold tone circle. The compact is 2 3/4" square with a ribbed base and a wonderful engine turned pattern on the lid of the powder well.

'Elgin American' in script and 'Made In U.S.A.' is marked on the powder well lid and the powder puff is also marked 'Elgin American'.

The inside of the compact looks in new condition and has never been used. There are two miniscule nicks on the ribbed bottom and some very fine scuffing near the sides of the lid which can only be seen by angling the compact to catch the light.

This very elegant compact is in excellent condition and would make a lovely gift or addition to your collection.
