A lovely old Burlington Ware character Toby jug 'The Mayor' with a keg of 'Olde Ale' by his side. Vibrant blue, green and yellow colours on the coat, vest and pants and his black three pointed hat is edged in yellow and pink. He stands 6" tall and is approx. 3 3/8" wide not including the handle. There is fine age related crazing under the glaze but no chips or cracks. The bottom is marked 'Burlington Ware - J.Shaw & Sons England - The Mayor' and there is a hand written black 'T'. Also impressed on the bottom is 'Regd. Design Made In England'. Burlington Ware was made by J. Shaw and Sons who were in business from 1931 - 1963. This beautiful old character Toby jug is in excellent condition.
