Fabulous scenic charger depicting a family of bears beside a river, with gorgeous mountain backdrop. Measures approximately 13 1/2" in diameter. Condition is very good, with virtually no wear to the hand painted finish and gold trim. One minor flake on the underside, on the "table rest," where the charger meets the flat surface it sits on. (See blownup photo for a closeup of this minor flaw.) Signed on the front by the artist Carl Koenig, a Pickard artist who opened his own studio in 1915. Interesting hand marked notation by the artist on the reverse, identifying his own studio. Porcelain blank is marked with a Bavarian manufacturer's mark identified as L. Hutschenreuther, Selb, Bavaria, Germany, most likely found after 1921. Member, Pickard Collector's Club.
