Gorgeous hand painted floral compote decorated by the Wheelock Pottery of Peoria, Illinois. Wheelock began making pottery in 1888, and later moved into importing china. This beautiful piece measures 8 1/2" across its scalloped edge, and stands 3: tall. The condition is very good-to-excellent, with just some extremely minor wear to the gold trim. Signed by the artist, F. Frinke. In addition to the Wheelock stamp, the piece is also stamped with the Bavarian manufacturer's mark, identified as Jaeger & Company, circa 1902.
