Did you know that in the 1830s, the corset was thought of as a medical necessity? It was believed that women, being the weaker sex, were physically and mentally more fragile, and needed assistance from some form of stay to hold them up. Even girls as young as three or four, and probably directed by the best motives, were laced up into bodices.

The corset fell from fashion in the 1920s in Europe and America, replaced by girdles and elastic brassieres, but survived as an article of costume. Since the late 1980s, the corset has experienced periodic revivals, which have usually originated in haute couture, and occasionally trickled through to mainstream fashion. These revivals focus on the corset as an item of outerwear rather than underwear, as seen in the films Moulin Rouge; Van Helsing; Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (yes, this is where Keira Knightley's character, Elizabeth Swann, almost suffocates from wearing a tight corset); and Underworld. Incidentally, what's with Kate Beckinsale and corsets, I wonder??

Emmm ... thanks but no thanks LOL as often as I am a self-proclaimed sucker for pain, that penchant applies only to wrapping, twisting and hammering wire :)

This necklace, whilst thoroughly and implicitly inspired and influenced by this body-moulding (under? outer?) garment, Le Corsette Royale promises nothing but a blissful pain-free experience.

A Hammered Focal, shaped by hand, grabs the spotlight and doesn't let go as this amazing HUGE, I'll say it again, HUGE Labradorite Briolette measuring about 20mm long, dazzles you with mega blue flashes. The decadent waterfall of gems includes 30Ctw of Rare Moss Aquamarine Teardrops and an exquisite quartet of Marquis-Cut Labradorite Teardrops. Parades of Madagascar Rose Quartz Rondelles cavort unabashedly with 11Ctw of Rare Moss Aquamarine Rondelles. Shameless flirts LOL

Intricate crochet weaving with teeny Labradorite Rondelles appear on both sides of this curvaceous corset-esque pendant, and the center features yet more Labradorite Rondelles sporadically placed onto twirls and swirls, alongside Genuine 24K Gold Seed Beads and Rose Quartz.

Fluid streams of 14K Gold Filled Fancy Figaro Chains feature more Rondelles, all with my signature twirlies, and the most majestic Mystic Labradorite Nuggets ever.

Le Corsette Royale's Toggle Clasp was also fashioned by hand using 18K Solid Gold and sports more wee Labradorite Rondelles. Throwing in some color relief here are final drops of Marquis-Cut Labradorite Teardrop and Rare Moss Aquamarine.

Le Corsette Royale's pendant is approximately 3" tall by 1.5" wide, and she currently measure 20" but is totally customizable to your desired length. 14K Gold Filled Wire was used in the time-consuming wrapping bits whilst the sturdy frames for the focal and clasp were fashioned from 18K Solid Gold. A total of 83ft was used.
