Why The Road Not Taken, you ask?

Simply because when I first set about creating this piece, I was all set to make something simple, yes, I confess, something simple and quick and easy. But then, as it was coming together, it was so clear to me that this necklace held oodles of potential to be so much more. And that the "so much more" part would involve a whole lot of wrestling with wire and finger torturing.

After much (ok ok, not that much, I'm a sucker for pain :P) reflection, I decided to take the road less travelled and came up with this super duper intricate wire-wrapped piece you see before you. I just wish I knew of a more effective way to photograph Petal Pearls because their natural sheen is so reflective, my camera goes to auto underexposure mode!! Sheela screams!

Anyways, just look at that MAGNIFICENT Rare Moss Amethyst tenderly encased within the heart of the pendant, surrounded by teeny tiny Pearls and even tinier 925 Sterling Silver Beads. Creme Pearls with an ever so smooth nacre pepper the scene as do Purple Potato Pearls.

The back of the large Moss Amethyst Briolette (check out those lovely B&W needles and that subtle hint of purple) is neatly and securely held in place by an abstract crocheted net.

Dangles are comprised of Amethyst Onion Briolettes and Smooth Champagne Citrine Teardrops (thanks Sherri!), and smooth is so IN right now. Check out too that HUGE Labradorite Briolette with all those flashes. I need my shades. Seriously. Creamy Petal Pearls make an appearance as they also dot the pathway of Handmade Bali Silver Chains. A luscious quartet of Coin Pearls lead to Faceted Amethyst Rounds which, in turn, pave the way to an intricate, wire-wrapped Hand-Forged Clasp featuring a single Purple Potato Pearl.

More Potato Pearls and a final HUGE Labradorite Briolette culminate the creation known as The Road Not Taken.

The Road Not Taken has been gently oxidized a la au naturel with boiled eggs, patiently buffed with steel wool and polished for a smooth shine. Yummy, yummy, yummy!

The Road Not Taken's pendant measures approximately 3" tall by 1.25" wide, and is adjustable from 20" to 22.5". Both 999 Fine and 925 Sterling Silver Wires were used in the making of The Road Not Taken, in various gauges, totalling around 75ft in all.
