This is a gorgeous, designer pendant and sterling silver chain that you will not see any where else! A one of a kind work of art, the top part of the pendant is textured fine silver (0.999) set with a rutilated (gold rutiles) quartz cabochon. The second part of the pendant is a genuine Australian black opal set in fine silver, with two small ocean-cultured pearls on the side of the bezel!

The picture does not do this piece justice. The black opal sparkles like something unreal, but is a solid piece of opal, not fake and not a doublet. Really it is an outstanding chunk of opal!

The rutilated quartz is transparent with fine gold strands traversing through. It literally glows!

The pendant itself measures 3-1/4" (8.25 cm.) and the matching sterling chain with toggle clasp measures approximately 18" (45.7 cm.).

Fine silver (0.999) and 24 KT Gold are "noble" metals and will not tarnish easily.

In the case of fine silver, unlike most silver jewelry nowadays, made of sterling silver (.925 silver) which is an alloy of copper (.075%) and silver (.925%), this piece will remain bright and shiny for years. It is the copper in the sterling alloy that oxidizes.

Although pure silver is considered "soft", this piece has been sufficiently work hardened and carefully burnished and polished by hand and is as strong as 18 KT gold.
