An altogether charming Victorian fairing box showing a little girl atop a bureau caught with a sweet cake in hand. This wonderful, 19th century figural keepsake was made in Germany in the 1880s. It bears the impressed shield mark of Conte & Boehme on the underside lid and is also numbered 3606.
It measures 4 3/4 inches high by 3 1/8 inches wide by 1 7/8 inches deep. Condition is excellent other than for a faint, tight hairline near the bottom of the back mirror frame which is accompanied by two wee, tiny flakes each smaller than a grain of rice. These are located just behind the subject child and are barely seen due to their negligible size. Please click on the photo to see additional, enlarged views.
