Beautiful Antique 19th Century Lithographed Sewing Box

A quite scarce, very sweet sewing box dating back to the late Victorian era. As sometimes seen in photo albums of that era, the lid is lithographed and heavily lacquered. It depicts an endearing mother and daughter scene. The sides are glossily papered in lovely shadows and florals shading from pink to deep cranberry with creamy white accents.

The interior is also lined in pink and is very clean. It is fitted with a mirror on the inside lid and contains three ivory or bone needlework accoutrements. There is a fourth spot to accommodate a missing thimble. This unusual box is in a wonderful antique condition and measures 5 inches wide by 3 3/4 inches deep by 2 1/2 inches tall.
