Many Items Currently Reduced to Make Way for New Items!
A very pleasing, late 19th century French faience plate made by Creil Montereau, Number 2 in the Ala Campagne Series. This scenic piece is one of four we currently have on hand. It has a nicely scalloped rim and a pink floral border surrounding a central scene in black transferware entitled "VOILA QU' Y VA PLEUVE! VITE ABRITONS NOT 'BEAU PARAPLURE."
I am not able to interpret this French language, but the scene no doubt is a humorous one! This charming, old plate measures 6 1/2 inches in diameter. It is in an excellent condition with the usual, modest crazing common for these old faience pieces. There are no other flaws of any kind. Please click on the photo to see additional enlarged views.
