REDUCED Limoges Early 20th Century Charger Hand Painted by B. Aubin

An especially lovely Limoges plate or charger beautifully hand painted and signed by B. Aubin, a French factory artist working from the early 20th century through the 1920s. This gorgeous piece is softly painted in warm autumn hues featuring pink and gold chrysanthemums among greenery and is richly trimmed in gold along an elaborately scalloped border. It bears both the L.R.I., France, overglaze studio mark and the Limoges, France, underglaze porcelain factory mark in green.

This piece was fitted at the factory with four holes on the base rim for hanging as a wall plaque. It measures 10.5 inches in diameter and is in an excellent condition with no repairs, cracks, nicks, chips, or other notable flaws of any sort. It most likely has been kept in storage for the bulk of its life as it does not show even a hint of wear on any of the high spots of the gold trim.

As an aside, the work of B. Aubin appears to be relatively scarce since my web search returned just one other example mentioned for this listed studio artist. That factor coupled with the artistic merit of this spectacular piece makes it a real prize for the collector. Please click on the photo to see additional, enlarged views.
