Antique pine ball finial with a flushed back, English, 19th century. This architectural element is large and would have been positioned against a wall to serve as a banister end for a grand staircase. It is a pleasing, well proportioned piece with a simple sculptural form. When displayed upright and viewed from the front, it gives the illusion of an entire finial and is a fabulous display piece for the mantelpiece, bookcase or wall. Condition is very good, as shown. It measures 12 ¾” in height and approximately 8” in width at the back. The base measures 7” in width.
