19th century French earthenware confit pot with a yellow slip glaze. Confit pots are considered to be one of the essential elements of French country style. These pieces evoke a sense of rural life, and whether displayed on their own or in multiples, they make a fine rustic display. This is a medium-sized pot measuring 11” in height. It has glaze runs and a nicely textured surface with minor glaze crazing, flakes in its rim, handles and interior base, and a minor chip along the base rim as shown – all of which gives it its character and should be considered a reflection of its utilitarian past.
