Late 19th century English glass confectionery display jar. This tall, elegant and tapering jar originally used to display sweets / candies in a grocery store makes for a pleasing display as either an individual piece or as part of a larger group of glass apothecary jars. Mold-blown clear-colored glass with a ground-glass stoppered lid and nicely faceted knob. The glass is wavy and irregular with inclusions, air bubbles, scratches and typical minor chips in the lid rim, as shown. There is some cloudiness near the hollow- footed base, as shown but overall there is good clarity in the glass. Measures 21” in height. Base measures 6” in diameter.
