19th century Scottish stoneware jar for Peas. The jar was produced by Buchan Potteries and has an impressed “Buchan Portobello Edinburgh” trademark near the base. The jar is very much traditional – a combination of buff colored stoneware with a clear glaze and with treacle colored glaze on the top of the jar and lid. The lettering is contained within a decorative scrolled banner which is transfer-printed in black and underneath the glaze. It also has a nice impressed coil and beaded pattern. There are a couple of very insignificant chips along the inner lid rim. No other damage. Condition is excellent.
Measures: 8” high and 5” in diameter at the base.
Item ID: RL-EA00855
