Antique Purple Spongeware Bowl - 19th C

19th century spongeware bowl with a manganese purple colored design. The monochromatic decoration on this bowl is truly very pleasing and yes it is purple - not blue! The bowl is decorated with a rope or diamond pattern around the rim and clover leaf design printed on the interior of the bowl and also repeated four times around the exterior. There is an impressed mark on the base which is not very legible. The bowl is in very good condition. There is discolored crazing in the glaze (as shown) and a very insignificant nibble in the base rim but no other damage or restoration. 3 ¼” high and 6” in diameter at the top.
