Antique Apothecary Glass Jar - Victorian Candy Store Display Jar

Late 19th century, tall and slender glass display jar once used to store unwrapped and -no doubt multi-colored sweets- in a Victorian English shop. It has a hollow footed base and raised lid with a ground glass rim. This beautifully shaped jar is one for the cabinet or console - either empty or filled with trinkets and ornaments. The lower portion of the jar is hazy -often a typical feature of old glass which in this case also adds textural interest. There are scratches in the glass and a couple of very slight nibbled spots in the lid rim. There are no significant chips or cracks. Measures 17 ½” in height.
