Splendid 19th century French cobalt blue apothecary bottles. This set of seven smaller-sized bottles with wider necks comes from a larger collection of 32. All retain their beautiful and original white enameled labels on the front. The blue glass is full of inclusions, tiny bubbles and scratches. The pontil bases are polished.Some jars held various powdered extracts ( Pulvis Junip: Sab: Pulvis Belladon: and Pulvis Nucis Vom: ), others were for chemicals Nitras Potassic, Oxydum Plumbic: F: Tartra Stibico-Pot: and Acidum Oxalicum.

The condition is superb – there are no chips or cracks on the bottles and the interiors are clean. The Acidum Oxalicum bottle shows small areas where the acidic contents have reacted with the label. All of the bottles come with their tole-painted metal caps and one bottle also retains its original ground glass stopper (chipped).

These are fabulous!

Each bottle measures 7 3/4” in height.
