Fabulous, Victorian English mahogany 3-tier show stand for displaying provisions in either a shop-front window or counter, c.1880. This particular one came out of a confectionery store. The shelves are graduated in width and two configurations are possible. It was designed so that the shelves can either be stepped at the front and flush at the back allowing for the stand to neatly fit against a wall, or flush at the front and hence the additional holes in the back of the shelves. The stand however has only been used on one configuration and that is with the shelves recessed at the front. The posts are cast metal / ormolu with an ivy leaf design and tripod feet with scrolled acanthus leaf motifs. The shelves retain their original finish and are held into position with screws, one of which has been replaced with a new one. It was designed to be disassembled into its components for easy storage and transportation.

A superb addition to a sideboard, buffet table or kitchen island.

The overall length is 48 1/2" x 42" H. Width of shelves is 11 3/4", 9 3/4" , 7 3/4".
