English wirework garden planter, c.1880. This decorative, urn-shaped Victorian flower stand features an ornate latticework bowl with a highly scrolled base. Traces of the original white paint remains –most, if not all, planters were sold painted and lined with zinc pans (in this one, the zinc pan would sit halfway down). It also functions as a hanging basket and there are three places from which to suspend the chains. This example has survived very well –its excellent condition is testament to the use of quality heavy gauge wire.

It measures 13” in height. The top diameter is 19 ½”. Base diameter is 11”.
