Ansonia antique golden oak wall regulator by the Ansonia Clock Co., of Brooklyn NY. It is 100% original and has been completely restored. Condition is near mint. Circa 1900. Clock is 22" long, 14 1/2" wide, 4 1/2" deep. Check out our other listings we have several other School Regulators for sale.

The perfect original dial on this clock is 9" in diameter minute track to minute track, 10" overall. Movement is original to the case. Clock has original dial, bezel, upper and lower glasses, pendulum, and old key marked Ansonia. There is also nice old label inside the case. Case has been professionally refinished, rubbed out between coats and three layers of cabinet wax applied. The quarter sawn golden oak veneer is mint less one small spot where the bezel catch closes. If it wasn't for this one small infraction it would be considered mint. The grain is amazing . The color is a golden oak and the finish is between satin and semi gloss. It is not shiny, but rather has a nice warm glow. All brass was polished and sealed. The signed Ansonia movement is original to the case. The four movement feet were repositioned by a previous repair person. The additional 4 holes line up to the movement feet when rotated. It sure would have been a lot easier to plug the old holes and re-drill them. The Ansonia clock movement is an unusual off set movement. The movement has been professionally rebuilt; disassembled, ultra-sonically cleaned, all pivots resurfaced and polished as was the verge, 8 new bronze bushings, new main spring and suspension spring or feather.

A SIDE NOTE: Saying the restoration work was performed and actually performing the restoration work by a knowledgeable clock maker are two different issues. I am a clockmaker with 35+ years experience and sell only 100% Legitimate Antique Clocks in Mint to Excellent condition always restored.

This is a strong running clock with an excellent pendulum amplitude. It runs accurately for 7 days. Schoolhouse regulators in this excellent condition are few and far between. Most are pretty well banged up and to compensate for quality they refer to it as patina or aging. See photos. As part of our restoration we removed a few lumps of solder which was the result of the previous amateur clock fixer. All of my mechanical wind up clocks come with a complete detailed set of instructions specific to the clock. To purchase with MC or VISA please call Drury House Antiques, 802-824-4395 EST We do all of our own packing and will work you to find best service and rates available.
