Chocolate pot, One of many listed, Nippon porcelain, late Victorian item for serving cocoa, backstamp is Nippon mark #32. Chocolate pot is 9" tall to the top of lid finial, 5 1/2" at the flared base, 3 1/4" opening for flange lid. The background of the chocolate pot is white fired porcelain, tan luster borders; 1/2" at the base and 1 3/8" at the top. The handle is also tan luster and is applied. The lid is white luster with a 3/4" tan luster border, tan luster finial, lid has chocolate pot distinguishing cut out for inserting spoon to stir the chocolate. This cut out is what defines it as a cocoa or chocolate pot and differentiates it from a coffee, demitasse or tea pot. Those pot lids do not have this cut out. Inside on the rim of this Cocoa pot is what appears to be a professional repair and there is variation in coloring on the lid, a result of fired glazing. Very good repair that can not be seen from the exterior with the lid on. The stylized flowers are only on one side, vibrant in Art Deco colors of Lanvin blue, yellow and tango orange, and green. A very attractive chocolate pot that displays well. See photos. Pot is priced to sell.
