French 1835 Jacob Petit two piece porcelain mantel clock, mint condition with original hand blown oval glass dome and inlaid wood base. The silk thread suspension movement is signed Raingo Freres. The porcelain one piece dial is also signed. Size: dome and base are 191 /4" tall by 11 1/2" in length, 6 1/2" deep. The two piece porcelain clock is 15" tall, 9 1/2" wide, dial diameter is 3 1/2" minute track to minute track, 4 1/4" overall. The French movement is a week duration with hour and half hour chime on its original silver bell. The clock was professionally restored, completely disassembled, cleaned ultrasonically, all pivots resurfaced and polished on the a lathe, main springs removed from the barrels, cleaned and lubricated, new silk thread was installed, no bushing were required on the 175 year old clock. The movement was polished, recleaned and assembled. The period of the pendulum is very strong. See photos of what a professionally restored French movement should look like. The original cast bronze pie crust bezel retains all of it's original fired gilt gold. The two piece porcelain case is marked JP in blue under the glaze. There are NO cracks, chips, damage or repairs to the porcelain. The gold gilting is literally mint with no wear or touchup. The case is beautifully hand decorated. Under the dial is a hand painted cameo of a pretty woman from the period. The painting is hand done, not transfers. This clock is one of the finest examples of early French porcelain clocks. Clock has all matching numbers, 1105. Raingo Freres was predominantly known for making carriage clocks. The first number that he records was 1000, so this would be the 105th clock he made, by hand.
