Tea set often used for dessert and luncheons, set is complete with service for six. Japanese porcelain, Art Deco luster in vibrant colors. This is one of over 180 sets and pieces of damage free antique porcelain listed The set consist of six cups and saucers, tea pot, six individual serving plates, creamer and sugar all in matching pattern. Circa 1940, Tashiro Shoten Ltd. porcelain, elephant trademark in black. This set is the same pattern as set #8296 however, the background color on this set is cream and not the rare yellow luster. There is a slight yellow hue on some of the pieces. The hand painted floral decoration on all pieces are well executed stylized flowers. The interior of the creamer and all cups is caramel luster, a nice compliment to the exterior luster coloring. On two serving plates the black hand painted rim accent is smudged on the plate. This happened before the firing and it was fired under the glaze. There is also a firing dimple on the backside of the teapot. Sugar has a 1/8" chip along the bottom, it has been colored matched. Butterflies are colorful but as is typical of Art Deco not realistic in color. They were hand painted in Art Deco colors of Lanvin blue, Tango orange, Chrome yellow and Tokai red . See photos.
