First, I must say that this teapot is not extremely old. It has been used to brew tea because there is an aroma of tea in the interior. However, it is a beautiful example of Zi Sha pottery, which is considered the best vehicle for brewing tea. There is a floral design carved on one side and the other side has Chinese characters in calligraphy. The spout appears to me to be a chicken hen carving while the lid has a chick as the knob. The teapot is 7 1/2" high and 4 1/2" long.
