Old Paragon China Plate 8 1/2"

This plate was manufactured by The Paragon China Co., which started up in 1900 as Star China in Longdon, Staffordshire. The name was changed in 1919 to The Paragon. They merged with Royal Albert in the 1960's and then with Royal Doulton in 1972. This lovely plate dates to between 1919 and 1933--before Paragon was granted a Royal Warrant. It has a chip under the glaze on the bottom rim--probably from manufacture. There is one rough spot on the edge, which is probably also a factory flaw--not visible, only feelable. The decoration reminds me of laurel wreaths. Gold trim on the rim and center is intact.
