This post 1940 mudman from the province of Guandong in China is a representation of Bodidharma, or Da Mo, a founder and first patriarch of Zen Buddhism. Many legends connect him to Shaolin Temple. He is six inches tall and holding what looks like a bowl. His glaze is excellent and he has no chips or blemishes. The number 09 is stamped into the clay on the base. He is hollow.
