I think this is a hummingbird gracefully landing on a tree branch close to a carved flower. His wings are finely carved and feathered and his eyes are onyx. Properly holed for netsuke and signed by the artist. Postage included in price.

We have here three young gentlemen posing gravely for their photographs, probably quite uncomfortable in their celluloid collars. The hairstyles speak of early 1900's. These photographs were all taken at the Doolittle Studio in Syracuse, NY. The two gentlemen, with their oiled hair and removable collars, look to be related I think. The ladies cardboard frame has suffered some spotting indignities and maybe a chewed corner, but here pompadour stands tall. Both of the cardboard frames on the men are in good condition with minimal corner wear. Price includes shipping.

This is a never used, original box classic Avon men's after shave holder (wild country). The container is a 1923 Durant Star Station Wagon...the first produced station wagon. This is not dated but I know it's a 1970's or early 80's product. My Mother-in-Law used to give these to the guys every Christmas. The aftershave is all there.

The snake holds a prominent position on the Chinese zodiac. Those born in the year of the snake are said to be rich in wisdom, charming, deep thinking, and are romantic. Years of the snake have been 1929, 41, 53, 65, 77, 89, and 2001. This carving is done in natural boxwood, depicts a cobra and, I think was originally destined to be a netsuke but is not holed. It stands 2" tall and 1" deep. The eyes are inset onyx.

This Asian box has many depictions of dragons and the legendary Phoenix birds, along with emblems resembling flowers. These figures are actually soldered onto the box. This could have been used to carry medicine, tea, money, or a chop, among other uses. The cylinder stands 3" high and the diameter is 1 1/2". Buyer should be aware that "Tibetan silver" is not pure silver but is a combination of silver and other alloys such as tin or antimony.

Here is an interestingly shaped snuff bottle in yellow painted porcelain with etched and painted cranes decorating it. Cranes are a symbol of longevity in many Asian cultures. The spoon top is a gray stone-possibly agate. The concave sides are unusual to me. There is a chop mark stamped on the bottom. The bottle stands 2 1/2" high and is 2" wide.

Made from one piece of hippo tooth, this small statue depicts a farmer with a hoe, holding some of the fruits of his labor. His clothing is finely etched and scrimshawed and he has a happy expression on his face. He stands 3" high and is not quite 1" wide. This is a very well proportioned and executed work of art and is signed by the artist. Hippo ivory does not endanger any species and is a renewable resource.

This old wooden snuff bottle is in the Romaunt style with a boy etched in bone on one side and a girl on the other. I can't identify the wood but it has a nice grain. The bottle is 3 1/2" tall and the spoon is made of bone. No markings but this has some age on it.

My guess is that this very attractive and useful bowl is at least fifty years old. It has no mark. It is heavy glass with an interesting curve to the long sides that remind me of the crest of a wave. One chip on an end that you have to search for. I've used this for cranberry relish, olives, and even celery once. Shipping and insurance included in price.

This old bonsai size fellow is adrift with his duck and his pot. Very nice glaze. Like many mudmen, he may have had a fishing pole at one time. They seldom survive. He comes from Shiwan in Guandong province in China. The piece is 2 3/4" long and 1 1/2" high in perfect condition.

This exceptional piece of carving is made of mammoth ivory from the extinct woolly mammoth....extinct for some 10,000 to 25,000 years. It is now being recovered in Siberia, Alaska, Estonia, etc. This is an amazingly intricate carving, executed and signed by a master craftsman. The fish is completely hollowed. The lily pads are scrimshawed in green and you can see the remarkable work on the fish scales. This snuff bottle is not old in terms of years. It is simply a work of art.

The spoons range from four inches in length to five inches. The Forest Lawn spoon is marked sterling silver. Many Hollywood stars are buried at Forest Lawn, Glendale.
