Cambridge Glass Signed Near Cut Celery Tray

Have not been able to identify the pattern for this very elegant tray, but it is definitely marked ‘Near Cut.’ Heavy pressed glass with the ‘Near Cut’ mark dates this piece to early in the Cambridge Glass history, probably the 1920's or 1930's. During the Ohio company’s production (1901-1954) they were known for glass of unsurpassed quality. The Near Cut patterns were part of their early production, but not all of them were signed. All of them were Early American Pressed Glass (EAPG) fashioned after the more expensive hand cut glass which was quite costly to produce.

Today these early Cambridge pieces are quite prized by glass collectors. This one weighs 1 lb. 4 oz. and measures 11-inches long, 5-inches at its widest point and 1 ½ tall. In very good condition for its age. No chips or cracks.
