From what I can determine “Jack” Bussey was the mastermind behind a racing tip sheet in Baltimore used by betting enthusiasts as far back as the 1940's and popularly known as “Jack’s Little Green Card.” The token may have been a coin for a free tip sheet or perhaps just a bit of advertising. However, historical facts are few and far between and we are left merely with conjecture. More information would be welcomed.
On the front around the top is “Jack’s Little Green Card.” In the center a simulated sheet of paper with “Winners” printed vertically on each side. At the bottom is “Chas. ‘Jack’ Bussey, Home Office, 122 W. Franklin St., Baltimore, MD."
On the reverse side is a racehorse with a jockey in the saddle and printed around the top edge “Good Luck” all overlaid on a horse shoe. I first thought the dark spot in the middle was oxidation, but with the close-up lens, it’s actually the horse’s post position - a seven. Measures 1-1/4 inch. Protective plastic case included. Please note that the color is altered in three photos by the very close-up lens.
