Early Large Wood Box Advertises Argentina Corned Beef

$65 USDEarly Large Wood Box Advertises Argentina Corned Beef

Collectibles:Advertising:Wood Crate
Loaded with country charm. Wouldn’t it look great next to the fireplace loaded with kindling? For longer than I can remember it held a stack of old license plates stored in the loft over our garage. No doubt salvaged from my grandmother’s garage in the 1980's. Old wooden boxes are now quite collectible for their age as well as the advertising. This one obviously was used for import shipping 48 12-ounce containers of corned beef from Argentina. 1920's or 1930's would be just a good guess. Odd ...
1920's Ansco No. 2A Buster Brown Box Camera

$30 USD1920's Ansco No. 2A Buster Brown Box Camera

Collectibles:Photographic:Camera:Ansco
1920's Ansco No. 2A Buster Brown Box Camera No matter how you count the history of this old camera, it is nearly 90 years old! First patented in 1903, revised in 1910 and again in 1916, it was popularly sold through the 1920's. The outside case of the camera is made of wood covered with a thin leather material. Inside the film box (or cone) is just wood painted black. Hand strap across the top is quite worn in the middle, but you can still see “No. 2A” on the left side, “Buster Br” faintly in ...
Vintage Collection Drafting Engineering Calipers

$25 USDVintage Collection Drafting Engineering Calipers

Collectibles:Tools:Calipers
Used for many years by a now retired aeronautical engineer, these four calipers are dated from the 1940's and 1950's. Left to right in the primary photo are two outside calipers, next is an inside caliper, and on the far right a compass caliper. The outside calipers are firm jointed and no trade marks can be seen. The larger one measures 6 1/4" tall and opens to a full 10 ½". The smaller one is 5" tall and opens to 9". The adjustable inside caliper is marked with a “4 Most USA” logo (see ...
Vintage Wood Sun Spot Soda Crate May Be Rare

$45 USDVintage Wood Sun Spot Soda Crate May Be Rare

Collectibles:Advertising:Wood Crate
“Bottled Sunshine” reads the great advertising on the sides of this crate undoubtedly bottled at the Sun Spot Beverage Co. of Baltimore. It was found among the trash and treasures in the basement of my grandmother’s Baltimore home where she lived in the same house from 1925 until 1980. First registered in 1938, the Sun Spot Beverage Co. was apparently a subsidiary of the Seven-Up corporation. History of this 1940's soda is sketchy at best. The only other Sun Spot Bottling Co. found was in El ...
Vintage Airguide Barometer Better Than The Weatherman

$40 USDVintage Airguide Barometer Better Than The Weatherman

Collectibles:Instruments:Airguide:Barometer
At least it’s better than our weatherman! Designed in the fashion of a ship’s wheel, this desktop model was made by the Airguide Instrument Co., formerly of Chicago. Originally name the Fee and Stemwedel Co., they were widely acclaimed for producing excellent quality barometers, hydrometers, thermometers, compasses, and binoculars used in homes, boats, and even cars. This one comes from a member of my family and is currently set at sea level pressure, since we are just 25 miles from the Atlantic ...

Miniature Bristol Padlock With Attached Original Key

$15 USDMiniature Bristol Padlock With Attached Original Key

Collectibles:Tools:Padlock:Miniature
The tiniest padlock I have ever seen - its usefulness saved only by the fact that the key is still chained to it. But if the key is still attached, what’s the point? Suspect it was a free-giveaway somewhere, brought home and dropped in a junk drawer and just never used. Stamped by the Bristol Co. of Waterbury, Conn. (on both the front and back). Metal worn on both sides at the highest points, consistent with spending many years banging around in a drawer. Cute anyway. And a useful purpose up to ...
