Rare and wonderful, this antique Holy Water Font from France. It features beloved Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque experiencing her visitation with Jesus where He revealed His Sacred Heart to her and told her of the devotion. This plaque is silver, probably over a pot metal, and will polish much shinier if one desired, we have never polished it. It has an elaborate temple shape with three dimensional figures and wonderfully detailed background including a Tabernacle. It is a signed plaque, "D.S.R." and Depose. The Holy Water bowl is also ornate, matching the post finials on the plaque. Both are mounted on black wood, 12 & 1/8" tall and 6 & 3/8" wide; the plaque itself is 6 & 1/2" tall. In good condition, from the late 1800's. A treasure from our personal collection.
