Sterling teaspoon by Wood & Hughes, New York, N.Y. They were in business from 1845 to 1899. This is one of their earlier pieces and dates from about 1850. Fiddleback pattern. Usually this type of spoon is coin, but this one if marked sterling. Spoon is 5 3/8" long.

Fantastic condition, just very minor dings and scratches, wonderful patina with only soft polishing scratches from years of cleaning, probably at least 125 to 150 more more years in this case! Front side of teaspoon says "Virginia" and the reverse side "Nellie". "Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus".

Buyer to pay priority mail shipping, and insurance if desired. Besides money orders we accept Paypal, and checks. Checks take from 5 to 7 days to clear.

Item ID: D180
